We are delighted to be continuing our partnership with England Illegal Money Lending Team and Cheshire Constabulary with the latest instalment of our anti-loan shark project.

Starting later this month the ‘Stop Loan Sharks Awareness Video Project’ will bring together a range of young people from across Halton to create TikTok-style videos that promote awareness of illegal money lending.

Following the success of our Pixel Art Project, which involved working with local schools and community groups to create a public pixel art exhibition, we’ve decided to bring our battle against illegal money lending in Halton online. We’ll visit five schools and work with a youth group to create online video content that will be fun, informative and shareable.

The five classes we work with across Halton will contribute content to our Anti Loan Shark video campaign and take away personalised Stop Loan Sharks keyrings, while our dedicated youth group will learn video production techniques and share their ideas for making great social media content. The resulting videos will be informative about the dangers of loan sharks, whilst also being fun and shareable to a wider audience.

The Illegal Money Lending Team’s crucial messages; including that loan sharks could be anybody in the community and that you should contact the Team immediately if you suspect someone you know is involved with an illegal money lender, will be broadcast loud and clear around Halton this year!

You can keep up with the latest news about this exciting new project by following our website and social media. If you or someone you know is involved with a loan shark the Illegal Money Lending Team has a 100% safe online reporting form that anyone can use to report illegal money lenders.

The Team is also available any time on 0300 555 2222 for anonymous information taken in the strictest confidence.
